The 1-Wall build is a single run of overhead wood shelving on one wall of your garage: 12.5 ft long, 2 ft deep — $875, all materials included, built on-site in one day. That's my rate card at work: $35 per square foot for 1-wall builds, and the calculator prices your exact wall in seconds.

Who it's for

One free wall is all most single garages actually have — the other side is the door into the house, the panel, the bikes. The 1-Wall build takes that free wall and turns the top half of it into storage: winter tires, seasonal bins, the camping gear you touch twice a year. Your car still parks under it; the floor underneath stays usable.

It's also the honest starting point. If you're not sure how much shelving you need, one wall answers the question — and more walls can always be added later; text me and I'll price the addition.

The standard build, and yours

Standard: 12.5 ft of wall, 2 ft deep, one shelf — $875. But your wall is your wall: the calculator prices any length from 4 to 24 ft, deeper shelves, or a second and third shelf on the same wall at half rate.

How it's attached

Same construction as every build I do: ledgers screwed into the wall studs with structural screws, posts anchored to the concrete slab — nothing hangs from the roof trusses. The full materials-and-fasteners story is on one page.

1-wall build questions

Which wall should the shelving go on?

Usually the long wall your car door doesn't open toward, or the back wall above the hood. When you text me a photo of your garage, that's the first thing I look at — where the shelf loads and unloads easily without the car in the way.

Will 12.5 feet fit my garage?

Most single garages run about 18–20 ft deep, so a 12.5 ft run fits with room to spare. The calculator prices anything from 4 to 24 ft — the build fits your wall, not the other way around.

Is one wall enough?

For tires, bins, and gear-you-rarely-touch: usually yes. If you're clearing a whole garage floor's worth of stuff, look at the 2-Wall L — the corner is where capacity really jumps.

Can I add a second shelf on the same wall?

Yes — extra shelves on a wall cost half the regular rate, and they're right in the calculator.
